Press Release
From 9 to 18 March 2022, young people from 8 different countries of the European Union met in Nea Kallikrateia, Halkidiki in the context of a youth exchange (Youth Exchange). The program was implemented with the support of Erasmus+ and the Foundation for Youth and Lifelong Learning. 47 young men and women traveled to Nea Kallikrateia to exchange opinions, talk, reflect together and work on issues related to the fight against long-term unemployment. Through interactive workshops and the interaction with the other countries, the young people learned to create a modern and competitive resume, use job-finding and networking platforms, use body language correctly in an interview and create a business plan from scratch.
Alongside the workshops, the young men and women got to know different cultures and tastes, while they also came into contact with the different cultures as each country had the opportunity to present dances, theatrical acts and traditional music. The residents of Nea Kallikrateia had the pleasure of talking and getting in touch with the young men and women as the activities included getting to know the locals. As part of the exchange, a visit was also made to the city of Thessaloniki, where the young men and women had the opportunity to see the city up close, walk around it and taste the traditional cuisine.
The exchange ended with an overall assessment of the conclusions reached by the participants during their 10-day stay in Nea Kallikrateia and discussed how unemployment could be fought on a pan-European level and changes could be made starting from their local communities. Strong friendships and acquaintances were made during the program and participants created chat groups on social media with the aim of meeting again in the future either on an Erasmus+ program or on their travels in Europe.
